A Screen-Free Family Night

Happy Valentine’s Day!

February is the perfect month to get offline and reconnect with loved ones. Time is something we can’t change or get back, but we can choose how to make the most of it with the people we love.

This month’s activity is to have a screen-free night. You can find it and other gratitude-instilling mini stories and activities in my Self-Published Keepsake Book “My Wish For You,” available on Amazon. There’s even cute spaces for you to journal and collect your memories.

Having a screen-free night allows you to put down your devices and connect with your kids. It’s easy! Turn down the lights and have a candlelit dinner or dig out some flashlights and play board games. Better yet, do both! Get creative and come up with your own ideas. You might even consider turning it into a family tradition. I recognize going screen-free isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so you can modify the goal to fit your family’s needs. Try spending your screen time on a connected activity instead, like playing a video game together or watching a game show where everyone can join in. Try a guided family exercise on YouTube or follow along with a craft class. The opportunities are endless!

The main goal is that you share your time and love with others today in whatever capacity you can.

P.S. - Sometimes the best memories come from the simplest plans, especially for younger kids that thrive on routines. Follow their lead. What have they been asking for lately that you haven’t had the time or energy to do? Start there.
